Kathmandu: Nepal will face Italy in their second group-stage match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 today, hoping to secure their first victory of the tournament.
The match is scheduled to begin at 3:15 pm at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, India, where all of Nepal’s fixtures in this edition are being played.
Nepal narrowly lost their opening match to England by four runs. Chasing a challenging target of 185, Nepal put up a strong fight but fell short, scoring 180 runs for six wickets in their 20 overs.
The 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is being co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, with Nepal’s group-stage matches taking place in India. This marks Nepal’s third appearance in the tournament, but the team is still seeking to advance beyond the group stage for the first time.
Nepal are placed in Group C alongside former champions England, two-time winners West Indies, Scotland, and Italy. Scotland qualified for the tournament through ICC rankings after Bangladesh opted out of participating in the World Cup in India.
With a competitive group lineup, today’s match against Italy is crucial for Nepal’s hopes of progressing further in the tournament.
