Ballot printing nears completion, only 14 districts remaining

Kathmandu: The printing of ballot papers for the upcoming House of Representatives election has reached its final stage, with work remaining in only 14 districts.

According to the Election Commission, ballot papers for constituencies in districts surrounding the Kathmandu Valley are yet to be printed. Printing is being carried out regularly at the Janak Education Materials Centre in Bhaktapur.

The Commission stated that ballot papers for 133 constituencies across 63 districts, prepared for the House of Representatives election scheduled for February 21 (Falgun 21), have already been printed. Assistant Spokesperson Prakash Nyaupane said that a total of 17,163,000 ballot papers have been printed so far. The remaining work is expected to be completed within three days, and printed ballot papers have already been packaged.

Ballot printing began on January 5 (Poush 22). In the first phase, 1,098,200 sample ballot papers were printed and dispatched to various districts. In the second phase, 20,830,000 ballot papers were printed, verified, and packaged for transportation. The Commission noted that 20,323,000 ballot papers are required for the first-past-the-post electoral system.

Meanwhile, the Commission has started dispatching printed ballot papers to 12 constituencies in 10 districts of Karnali Province. Ballot papers have been transported to Salyan, Rukum West, Dolpa, Mugu, Humla, Kalikot, Jumla, Jajarkot, Dailekh, and Surkhet districts, according to Assistant Spokesperson Nyaupane.
