976 crime cases registered in Kathmandu in one month

Kathmandu: A total of 976 crime cases were registered in Kathmandu district during the month of Magh. Among these, 159 cases were classified as heinous and serious crimes, according to Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, spokesperson for the District Police Range, Kathmandu.

During the month, 22 cases were related to women, children, and senior citizens. The police also reported that 466 cases involved financial crimes, as stated in the publicly released data.

Additionally, 340 cases of various other categories were registered, he added. During this period, under a “special operation,” police arrested 10 individuals involved in robbing pedestrians while riding motorcycles in Kathmandu and initiated legal action against them.

In terms of enforcement of court verdicts, 360 individuals were arrested, and fines amounting to Rs. 22 million were recovered from them, police informed. Likewise, 709 individuals were arrested in connection with ongoing cases.

Of those arrested, 637 were men. Regarding complaints related to women and children, 149 cases of domestic violence and 49 direct petitions were registered. Among them, 131 domestic violence cases and 36 direct petitions were settled through reconciliation, police stated.
