Kankrebihar (Surkhet): With only seven days remaining for the House of Representatives elections scheduled for Falgun 21, a total of 359 polling stations in Karnali Province have been identified as highly sensitive from a security perspective.
According to Deputy Inspector General of Police Jayaraj Sapkota, Chief of the Karnali Province Police Office in Surkhet, out of polling stations across the province’s 10 districts, 359 have been categorized as highly sensitive, 422 as sensitive, and 160 as normal.
The province has a total of 959 polling stations, including 941 permanent and 18 temporary ones. Among 1,455 polling centers, 446 have been classified as highly sensitive, 697 as sensitive, and 284 as normal in terms of security.
In Karnali, 525 polling stations have only one polling center, 353 have two centers, 49 have three centers, 12 have four centers, while one station each has five and six centers respectively.
Similarly, all 18 temporary polling stations have a single polling center, while 496 additional polling centers have been designated.
There are a total of 12 House of Representatives constituencies in Karnali Province. Surkhet and Dailekh districts each have two constituencies, while the remaining eight districts have one constituency each.
The total number of voters in the province stands at 1,037,718. Karnali comprises 54 rural municipalities and 25 municipalities.
