Minimum temperature in Kathmandu recorded at 8.5°C this morning

Kathmandu: The minimum temperature in Kathmandu was recorded at 8.5 degrees Celsius at 5:45 am today, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.

On Wednesday at the same time, the minimum temperature stood at 8.0 degrees Celsius, later dropping to 7.7 degrees Celsius in the official 8:45 am reading. As per standard practice, the minimum temperature is determined based on the 8:45 am measurement, and today’s final figure may either decline slightly or remain close to the early morning record.

Earlier this week, temperatures in the Kathmandu Valley showed fluctuation, with the minimum recorded at 11.5°C on Tuesday, 9.0°C on Monday, 9.1°C on Sunday, 7.5°C on Saturday, and 12°C on Friday. Meteorologists state that cloudy skies during the night tend to keep minimum temperatures higher in the morning, while clear skies lead to a drop in temperature.

A reverse trend is observed for maximum temperatures: cloudy conditions during the day generally result in lower maximum temperatures, whereas clear and sunny weather causes them to rise.Despite daily variations, experts indicate that overall temperatures are gradually increasing as the winter season approaches its end.
