Surunga (Jhapa): Balen Shah, who was elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Jhapa District–5, has made public the details of his election expenses. According to the statement submitted to the District Election Office through his election representative, Shah spent a total of Rs. 1,414,729 during the election campaign.
The submitted report includes expenditures under various headings. It states that Rs. 233,500 was spent on hiring two vehicles for 15 days during the election campaign, Rs. 35,000 on airfare for five trips, and Rs. 26,970 on food expenses for voter training programs.
According to the report, Rs. 450,000 was spent on ward-level promotional programs and door-to-door campaign activities. A total of Rs. 44,550 was spent on printing sample ballot papers.
During the campaign period, Rs. 90,000 was spent on water for office operations over two months, while Rs. 29,670 was spent on stationery.
Similarly, Rs. 175,034 was spent on printing campaign materials (cloth and banners), and Rs. 119,505 was spent on transporting campaign materials and tickets.
The report also states that Rs. 10,000 was spent on filing the candidacy. The expense statement was signed by Shah’s representative Nabin Bhandari and submitted today to the District Election Office.
