Dhangadhi: A husband and wife have died after a truck collided with a bullock cart on the Hulaki Highway at Baijpur, Kailari Rural Municipality–5 in Kailali district.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night when a truck bearing registration number Na 6 Kha 778 struck the bullock cart. The deceased have been identified as 60-year-old Kalesu Chaudhary and his 70-year-old wife, Sitarani Chaudhary, residents of Kailari Rural Municipality–5. One of the oxen pulling the cart also died in the collision, while another was reported injured.
Both husband and wife sustained serious head and facial injuries following the impact and were rushed to Seti Provincial Hospital for treatment. Doctors declared Sitarani dead upon examination.
Similarly, Kalesu succumbed to his injuries during the course of treatment, according to Yogendra Timilsina, Deputy Superintendent of Police and spokesperson for the District Police Office. The truck driver, 33-year-old Ruben Thapa Magar of Boradandi, Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City–3, has been taken into police custody along with the vehicle.
