NC central committee meeting today; discussion on president Thapa’s resignation

Kathmandu: The Central Working Committee meeting of the Nepali Congress is scheduled to take place today. According to Acting Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Dulal, the meeting will be held at 1:00 PM at the party headquarters in Sanepa.

It has been stated that the main agendas of the meeting include the resignation of party president Gagan Thapa, the upcoming general convention, a review of the election results, and future strategies and action plans.

Thapa had resigned, taking moral responsibility for the party’s poor performance in the recently concluded House of Representatives elections.

However, Vice President Bishwo Prakash Sharma has already indicated that Thapa’s resignation will be rejected.

On Thursday, Sharma wrote on the social media platform X that a proposal to reject the resignation will be presented in today’s meeting along with the resignation letter.

According to Sharma, while Thapa’s decision to take moral responsibility for the party’s defeat is positive, the primary responsibility of the party president at this moment is to manage the current situation.

“Taking moral responsibility is positive, but the main moral duty at this time is to handle the situation. An initial review, the resignation letter, and a proposal to reject the resignation will be presented at the meeting,” Sharma wrote.
