March 25, Kathmandu : Arjun Narasingh K.C., the senior member of the House of Representatives, has taken the oath of office and secrecy. In a ceremony held today at Shital Niwas, President Ram Chandra Poudel administered the oath to K.C.
K.C. was elected through the proportional representation system in the House of Representatives election held on Falgun 21, representing the Nepali Congress. He is 78 years old.
After taking the oath from the President, K.C. will administer the oath to all 274 members of the House of Representatives on Chaitra 12 (Thursday). Until the Speaker is elected, K.C. will also preside over the meetings of the House of Representatives.
In the House of Representatives election, 165 members were elected through the first-past-the-post system, and 110 members through the proportional representation system.
