Kathmandu: A meeting of central committee members aligned with a rival faction of the Nepali Congress, elected from the party’s 14th General Convention, is set to be held today at the call of former acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka.
The meeting will take place at 12 noon at Smart Hotel in Dhumbarahi. The Khadka faction, which has been engaged in internal discussions following a recent verdict by the Supreme Court of Nepal regarding party legitimacy, is expected to deliberate on whether to prepare for the party’s 15th General Convention or pursue an alternative course.
Khadka, who has been leading the faction dissatisfied after the court recognized a special general convention, had also convened a discussion with leaders from his group at his residence on Saturday.
Leaders including Bimalendra Nidhi, Shashanka Koirala, Krishna Sitaula, Prakash Man Singh, Prakash Sharan Mahat, NP Saud, Min Bishwakarma, and Ramesh Lekhak, among others, were present at the Saturday meeting.
