Kathmandu — Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has resigned from his position. On Wednesday, he announced his resignation through a Facebook post, stating that it would take effect immediately.
“In order to ensure an impartial investigation into matters related to me, and to prevent any conflict of interest or any influence arising from my position, I hereby resign from the post of Home Minister effective from today’s date,” he wrote.
He also stated that he considers ethics to be more important than holding office. Furthermore, he emphasized that public trust is the greatest form of power.
“Today’s Gen-Z movement across the country, demanding good governance, transparency, and accountability, has also conveyed the same message,” he wrote. “Public life must be clean, and leadership must be accountable.”
He added that a government formed on the basis of the blood and sacrifice of 46 of his brothers and sisters must be answerable to such questions through morality. He concluded by stating that he has fulfilled his moral responsibility from his side.
