Western low-pressure system brings rain and thunderstorms across Nepal

Kathmandu – At present, Nepal is under the influence of a western low-pressure system, local winds, and a low-pressure area in the lower atmosphere near the eastern region of the country. As a result, there is a possibility of rainfall in some parts of the country today. Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely to occur.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the hilly and mountainous regions of the country will generally remain cloudy during the daytime, while the Terai region will experience partly cloudy conditions. Some places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as other provinces, are likely to witness moderate rainfall and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. Similarly, a few places in the remaining Terai region may receive light rainfall with thunder and lightning.

The Department has stated that during the night, the mountainous regions of Koshi Province and other parts of the country will generally remain cloudy, while the remaining areas will experience partly cloudy weather. A few places in Koshi Province are likely to receive moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. Likewise, one or two places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Madhesh Province and other provinces may experience light rainfall and snowfall with thunder and lightning.
