Kathmandu — The influence of westerly and local winds is currently affecting weather conditions across Nepal. Due to this system, hilly and mountainous regions of the country are generally experiencing cloudy conditions, while the remaining Terai regions are witnessing mainly fair weather, according to the Weather Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
The division stated that the impact of the westerly and local winds caused heavy rainfall in some districts on Wednesday. On Thursday afternoon, the mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces are expected to remain generally cloudy.
Likewise, partial cloud cover is likely over Madhesh Province, the Terai areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and the hilly and mountainous regions of the remaining provinces, while the rest of the Terai is expected to experience mainly fair weather.
According to the division, there is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall and snowfall at a few places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Similar weather conditions are also likely at one or two places in Madhesh Province, as well as the hilly and mountainous regions of Lumbini and Karnali provinces, and the Terai areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
The division has also forecast hot daytime conditions in the hilly and Terai regions of Sudurpashchim and Lumbini provinces.
Similarly, tonight, the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces are expected to remain generally cloudy. Partial cloud cover is likely over Madhesh Province, the Terai regions of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and the hilly and mountainous regions of the remaining provinces, while the rest of the Terai is expected to remain mainly clear.
The division further stated that there is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at a few places in Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and at one or two places in Madhesh Province. — RSS
