Kathmandu – The secretariat meeting of Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) is scheduled to continue today. The meeting will be held at 11:30 am at the residence of party chairman K. P. Sharma Oli in Gundu.

According to UML Deputy General Secretary Lekh Raj Bhatta, secretariat members will continue expressing their views during today’s meeting. Secretaries Sherdhan Rai, Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal, Rajan Bhattarai, and Khagaraj Adhikari, among others, are expected to present their opinions.

Most members who have spoken in the ongoing meeting since Friday have reportedly advised Chairman Oli to facilitate party restructuring. Out of the 19-member secretariat, 10 members have so far expressed support for party reorganization. Leaders previously regarded as strong Oli supporters, including Vice Chairpersons Bishnu Poudel and Prithvi Subba Gurung, as well as General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, have also emphasized the need for restructuring.

According to a leader participating in the meeting, only Vice Chairman Ram Bahadur Thapa and Secretary Mahesh Basnet have openly defended Oli so far. Chairman Oli is scheduled to respond today to the questions and concerns raised by members. The meeting is also expected to finalize the proposed division of responsibilities with amendments, call a central committee meeting, and form task forces related to constitutional amendment and election review.
