Kathmandu — The Meteorological Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that the country is currently under the influence of westerly winds, local winds, and a low-pressure system located near the eastern region of Nepal.
According to the Division, there is currently generally cloudy weather over Koshi Province as well as the hilly and mountainous regions of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and the mountainous areas of Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces.
Partial cloud cover is prevailing over Madhesh Province and the hilly and mountainous areas of Lumbini Province, while the remaining Tarai regions are experiencing mainly clear weather. Light rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is occurring at one or two places in Bagmati, Koshi, and Gandaki provinces.
This afternoon, generally cloudy conditions are expected in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. Partial cloud cover is likely over the hilly and mountainous areas of the remaining provinces, including Madhesh, while the rest of the Tarai region is expected to remain mainly clear.
The Division has forecast moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at a few places in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and at a few places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Madhesh, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces. There is also a possibility of snowfall in some high-altitude areas.
Furthermore, hot daytime conditions are likely in the hilly areas of Sudurpashchim and Lumbini provinces, while heatwave conditions may occur in the Tarai region. Tonight, generally cloudy weather is expected in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in the remaining mountainous regions of the country. Partial cloud cover is likely over the hilly regions of the remaining provinces, while the Tarai areas are expected to remain mainly clear.
According to the Division, a few places in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, along with isolated areas of the hilly and mountainous regions of Madhesh, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, may witness moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning, with chances of snowfall in higher elevations.
