Kathmandu: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM), through its Meteorological Forecasting Division, has stated that Nepal is currently under the influence of an upper-level western low-pressure trough, local winds, and a low-pressure system extending close to the country from west to east.
According to the division, Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces are currently experiencing generally overcast conditions, while the mountainous and hilly regions of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces are witnessing partly to generally cloudy weather. The remaining Terai areas are partly cloudy. Light to moderate rainfall is currently occurring at one or two locations in Koshi, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces.
During the day, generally cloudy conditions are expected across the country. There is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder, lightning and snowfall at a few places in the mountainous and hilly regions of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as in the mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Similar weather conditions are likely at a few locations in the Terai regions of Madhesh Province and parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces. Gusty winds are also likely at some places across the Terai and hilly regions.
Tonight, partly to generally cloudy conditions are expected over the mountainous and hilly regions, particularly in Sudurpashchim Province, while the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy skies. Light rainfall and snowfall are likely at a few places in the mountainous and hilly areas of Sudurpashchim, Karnali and Gandaki provinces, and at one or two locations in the high-altitude regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Lumbini provinces.
