Simkot (Humla), June 8: With the support of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), a football programme has been started here at the school level.It has been stated that ANFA, with the aim of developing football from the school level, has been running programmes across the country, and it has also been implemented here.
Dhiraj Rokaya, the programme coordinator for Humla district, said that the initiative has been launched under FIFA’s ‘Football for Schools’ programme. According to him, based on the online application called by ANFA some time ago, four schools from Humla were selected.
Among the selected schools, Balmandir Secondary School at Simkot Rural Municipality and Mount Everest Academy at Adanchuli Rural Municipality were provided with footballs at a rate of 25 per school during a programme on Sunday.
Coordinator Rokaya stated that footballs would be handed over to Himjyoti Secondary School of Sarkegad Rural Municipality, which has been selected, today. However, football has not been distributed to Khirpani Ani School of Namkha Rural Municipality as there are currently only five students, leaving it at the risk of closure.
He stated that the football and related materials brought for the said school would be provided to another school in the district in coordination with ANFA.Schools that have received footballs must ensure that students practise regularly. It is stated that the Balmandir Secondary School has already selected 40 students for this purpose. (RSS)
