Kathmandu – Rabi Lamichhane, the chairperson of the ruling party Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has said that Prime Minister Balen Shah cannot immediately appear in Parliament to respond to questions regarding his statement about the Nepal–India border.
During an all-party meeting held today at Singha Durbar, opposition parties demanded that the Prime Minister personally come to Parliament and clarify his remark that Nepal has also encroached on many areas of India. In response, Lamichhane stated that the Prime Minister would not be able to attend Parliament immediately.
Lamichhane said that the Foreign Minister would provide a response first, and if necessary, he himself would also respond, but the Prime Minister would not be able to appear.
However, opposition parties have maintained that the Prime Minister himself must answer the issue. They argue that because the matter concerns national interests, the Prime Minister should provide an explanation and have the statement removed from the parliamentary record.
