Kathmandu: The hilly and Himalayan regions will remain generally cloudy on Wednesday, with moderate rainfall and thunderstorms forecast in several areas, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said.Monsoon winds are currently active across Koshi, Madhesh and Bagmati provinces, parts of Gandaki Province, and some eastern areas of Lumbini Province. The rest of the country is under partial influence of westerly and local winds.During the day, the hilly and Himalayan regions, along with Koshi Tarai, will see generally cloudy conditions. Madhesh Province and the Tarai areas of Bagmati and Gandaki will be partly cloudy, while Lumbini and Sudurpashchim Tarai will remain mostly fair.
Moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely in parts of the hilly and Himalayan regions, as well as in Koshi Tarai and isolated areas of Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki Tarai.The department has warned of heatwave conditions in some Tarai districts of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces, with hot conditions also expected in parts of Bagmati and Gandaki Tarai.
Dhangadhi and Nepalgunj may see temperatures reaching 40–41°C, while Bhairahawa, Dipayal and Janakpur are also likely to record high temperatures.Meanwhile, moderate rain with thunderstorms is forecast for Kathmandu, Pokhara, Biratnagar, Dharan, Dhankuta and Taplejung. Kathmandu Valley is expected to record a maximum of 29–31°C.For tonight, cloudy conditions will persist over the hilly and Himalayan regions and Koshi Tarai, while Madhesh Province will remain partly cloudy.
Most Tarai areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim will stay mainly fair.The department has forecast moderate rainfall and thunderstorms in parts of the hilly and Himalayan districts of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki, with isolated activity in Himalayan districts of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim. Moderate rain is also likely in some areas of Koshi Tarai and isolated parts of Madhesh Province.
