Waling: One person was killed and 17 others were injured after a jeep met with an accident at Lovely Danda in Ward No. 7 of Waling Municipality, Syangja District.
According to the Syangja District Police Office, the jeep (registration number Ba.A. 7905), which was traveling from Tapke to Waling along the Mirdi–Chapakot road section, lost control and overturned on the roadside.
The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Rajendra Birkatta, a resident of Waling Municipality–7. Police said he sustained critical injuries in the accident and died while undergoing treatment at the Waling Primary Health Centre.
Of the 18 people on board the vehicle, the remaining 17 sustained injuries. Following initial treatment at the Waling Primary Health Centre, 12 of the injured were referred to Pokhara for further medical care. According to police, three of those transferred are in critical condition.
Police have taken the driver, 28-year-old Min Bahadur Saru, a resident of Waling–7, into custody following the accident. Saru, who sustained minor injuries, is also receiving treatment at the Waling Primary Health Centre. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
