Kathmandu: The influence of the monsoon system continues across Nepal, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM). The department stated that the monsoon trough lies south of its average position over the eastern part of the country and remains near its average position over the western region.
According to the DHM, most areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces are currently experiencing generally cloudy conditions, while Madhesh Province has partly cloudy skies. Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is occurring at a few locations in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.
For Monday afternoon, the department has forecast generally cloudy conditions across the country’s hilly and mountainous regions, as well as in the Terai areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces. The Terai regions of Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces are expected to remain partly cloudy.
There is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at several places in the hilly and mountainous regions. Similar weather is also likely at a few locations in the Terai areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as at one or two places in the Terai of Koshi Province and Madhesh Province. Gusty winds are also likely at some locations in Madhesh Province and the Terai regions of Koshi and Bagmati provinces.
Tonight, generally cloudy conditions are expected across the country. A few places in the mountainous region may experience light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, with the possibility of snowfall at higher elevations. Similar conditions are forecast for several locations in the hilly and Terai areas of Koshi, Gandaki,
Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as a few places in Madhesh Province, the hilly areas of Karnali Province, and the hilly and Terai regions of Bagmati Province.
