Kathmandu, Sep 13: Rukumkot, the district headquarters of Rukum East, has been declared . The Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court held on Wednesday declared Rukumkot as the district headquarters.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Bishwombhar Prasad Shrestha, Justices Ishwori Prasad Khatiwada, Dr Ananda Mohan Bhattarai, Anil Kumar Sinha and Prakash Man Singh Rawat fixed Rukumkot as the district headquarters. The then Sher Bahadur Deuba government had decided to designate Putha Uttarganga-12, the headquarters of Rukum East, at Golkhada.
Advocate Ganesh Hamal, among others, had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court against the government’s decision. The writ order was issued by the constitutional bench of the case.
Rukum East had been facing problems in the construction of government offices and other works as the issue of the district headquarters had not been finalized for the last six years. The dispute over the district headquarters has been settled after the writ order was issued by the constitutional bench on Wednesday.
