Kathmandu, Sept 27:  Police have intervened in the relief teachers’ agitation. Police intervened in New Baneshwor during the protest by the agitating relief teachers protesting against the School Education Bill.

Some teachers were beaten up and lathi-charged by the police who were keeping fences to prevent them from entering the prohibited area.

Although the Teachers’ Federation has called off the agitation after talks with the government, the relief teachers have continued their agitation saying their demands have not been met.

They have been protesting from Maitighar to New Baneshwor every day. On Wednesday, the teachers protested from the main lane of Maitighar New Baneshwor Road, due to which the vehicles plying on the road were closed. As a result, traffic congestion has increased in New Baneshwor and Maitighar and Thapathali areas.
