Sandeep Lamichhane, the former captain of the Nepali cricket team, is being released today after paying bail. Yesterday, the High Court ordered his release on bail. Overturning the District Court’s order to keep him in custody for preliminary investigation, the joint bench of Judge Dhruvraj Nand and Ramesh Dhakal demanded a bail of 20 lakhs from Sandeep.
Lamichhane filed an application in Patan High Court against the order issued by the Kathmandu District Court on October 18 to keep him in custody until the case is finally decided. Hearing the same, the High Court ordered to release him on bail.
He will be released today after paying the bail amount. The High Court has said that only cash or bank guarantee of 20 lakh rupees will be accepted as bail from Lamichhane, it cannot be retained. Sandeep has been released on bail by the court. Until the case is decided,Sandeep has been banned from leaving Nepal.
