‘Festivals crucial for shaping cultural foundation’

Kathmandu: Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ emphasized the pivotal role of festivals, with a special emphasis on Tihar, in shaping the ideological, political, economic, and cultural underpinnings of socialism.

He expressed optimism that these festivities contribute to safeguarding and fortifying the transformed political landscape.

In extending warm Deepawali greetings to all Nepali sisters and brothers, Prime Minister Dahal underscored the significance of the Federal Democratic Republic, attained through the arduous struggles and sacrifices of the Nepali people.

This achievement, he stated, serves as a strong foundation for upholding the nation’s independence and self-respect, concurrently fostering internal nationalism.

Prime Minister Dahal emphasized that festivals, including Tihar, offer a unique perspective that showcases Nepal’s distinct identity on the global stage.

Beyond reinforcing family bonds, social harmony, and national unity, these celebrations also intensify the connection between humans and animals, recognizing their roles in production, labor, information, and social protection.

Notably, cultural activities like “Deusi-Bhailo” significantly contribute to the festive ambiance and the promotion of culture, he stated.

Drawing attention to Nepal’s rich diversity as a multi-racial, multilingual, and multicultural nation, Prime Minister Dahal emphasized that the country, with its vast natural resources and civilizations, serves as a meeting ground.

He asserted that the varied customs, cultures, and festivals form not only the collective wealth of the nation but also a crucial foundation for uniting the country and its people in cultural and emotional solidarity.
