TU set to launch online services; online demo to take place today

Kathmandu, Jan 14: Office of the Controller of Examinations of Tribhuvan University (TU) is trying to end the situation where students have to go to the office at Balkhu to complete their work. The office is conducting a ‘demo’ of the online system today. It is said that the online system will be brought into implementation from mid-January.

An online system has been developed so that students can take all services of the Examination Control Office from home. “We are focused on the problems of students. We will put an end to the forced situation where students have to run to the office with small tasks,” Head of Office of the Controller of Examinations Pushparaj Joshi told Republica. ‘Today we are conducting a demo of the online system we have developed.”

Joshi said that students can make requests online for certificates, re-totalling, correcting names and addresses, and other services from home. “No need to stay in the office for this. Students don’t even have to stand in line at the bank to pay,” he said

Joshi said, “I have called all the officials of TU and a demo will be held today”. According to him, a demo program has been organized at the Engineering Campus in Pulchowk. All Deans, Rector and other officials are participating in the demo.

Joshi said that the university had developed this system two years ago. “We could not implement it earlier due to lack of trained human resources. Finally, the online system is set to come into operation.”However, Joshi lamented that TU still does not have enough trained manpower. “So far, I have only got six people. This number is not enough,” he said.

According to Joshi, students can make a request for necessary documents through email. The document reaches their address through the central and regional office of the university.

TU has its regional offices in Nepalgunj, Attariya, Pokhara, Biratnagar and Balkhu in Kathmandu. The workS related to examinations are also being conducted from these offices. Joshi also informed that preparations are being made to set up another office targeting Madhesh province.
