Kathmandu Metropolitan City to impart cyber security training to 4,000 youths

Kathmandu,14 Jan: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is going to provide cyber security training to 4,000 youths. Under the ‘Employment and Income Enhancement, Prosperity of Kathmandu’ scheme, the Metropolitan City is going to provide cyber security training to 4,000 youths.

Engineer Shailendra Jha, a member engineer of the Metropolitan City’s Urban Planning Commission, said that students and professionals interested in working in the cyber security sector will be trained. He said that the training will teach knowledge and skills to avoid cyber risks. “Reports show that cyber crime has increased by 59 per cent in Nepal last year. Training will contribute to strong and efficient cyber security to control such crimes,” he said.

Engineer Jha says that with the increase in internet access, the challenge of cyber security has also increased. Internet-based security should also be provided to the general public who use smart phones, he stressed.

“People’s personal information may be misused by others without knowing them. Sometimes there is a problem in the system of government. We have to work now to protect citizens from internet-based risks. We have started it,” Jha said.The training will be held at the National Assembly Hall at Exhibition Road from 2:00 pm on Magh 2.
