The Nepali Congress is giving its candidacy for the post of Speaker. The largest party in the House of Representatives will make a decision on this through a meeting of its parliamentary party.
A meeting of the party’s office-bearers held at president and parliamentary party leader Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence at Dhumbarahi this morning decided to register the party’s candidacy for the post of the Speaker after consultation with other parties as well.
Party joint general secretary Badri Pandey said a meeting of the NC parliamentary party working committee’s ex-officio members today will take a formal decision in this connection. A meeting of the party leader, the general secretary duo and the party chief whip is taking a decision on this matter as the election of the parliamentary party’s working committee has not been held.
Before the office-bearers’ meeting, party president Deuba had held talks with CPN (Unified Socialist) Chair Madhav Kumar Nepal and Janata Samajbadi Party Chair Upendra Yadav.
