National Independent Party MP Indira Rana Magar has been elected as Deputy Speaker. On Saturday, the proposal put forward by the MP Sobita Gautam of RSVP to elect him as Deputy Speaker was passed by the majority.
Out of 275 members of the House of Representatives, 264 participated in the election of the Deputy Speaker. Out of which 166 votes were cast in favor of Indira and 97 against. Prem Suwal, MP of Nepal Labor Farmers Party,remained neutral.
CPN-UML, CPN-Maoist Center, National Independent Party, RPP and other ruling coalition parties voted for Indira.The Nepali Congress nominated Muktakumari Yadav as the deputy speaker. When the proposal to elect Indira Ranamar as Speaker was discussed in the House of Representatives, the Congress proposal was not discussed because she was elected Speaker.
