Kathmandu, May 8: CPN-UML lawmaker Suhang Nembang has taken the oath of office and secrecy. Nembang, who was elected as a member of the House of Representatives in the by-election of Ilam-2, took the oath today in the auditorium of the Agriculture, Cooperative and Natural Resources Committee at Singha Durbar.
Speaker Devraj Ghimire administered the oath to him and put the badge of the member of the House of Representatives on him. CPN-UML candidate Nembang was directly elected as a member of the House of Representatives from the by-election held on April 27.
After Subas Nembang, who represented Ilam 2, passed away last August, a by-election was held to fill his seat. In this by-election, Subas’s son, Suhang, secured victory with 27,772 votes, defeating his closest competitor, Dambar Bahadur Khadka of Nepali Congress, who garnered 21,942 votes.
