Kathmandu:The Patan High Court has acquitted cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane in a rape case. High Court overturned the verdict of Kathmandu District Court and acquitted .
The district court had convicted Sandeep and sentenced him to eight years in jail in a case filed by Gaushala 26 (name changed). Sandeep had filed an appeal in the High Court seeking reversal of the verdict.
A division bench of Justices Sudarshan Dev Bhatta and Anju Upreti Dhakal acquitted Sandeep after hearing arguments from both sides on Tuesday and Wednesday.
After the high court’s decision, Sandeep is eligible to return to cricket. The Cricket Association of Nepal had suspended him after the district court convicted him.
