The Election Commission has started preparations for the presidential election. Officials of the commission have informed the media that they have started preparing for the presidential election in the last week of Fagun .
After the election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker, the attention of the parties is now focused on the post of President. The Act on the Election of the President and Vice President stipulates that the election should be held at least one month before the end of the term of office.
The current President Bidya Devi Bhandari was elected as the President for the second term on Fagun 29, 2074. According to the Constitution of Nepal, the term of office of the President is five years. Accordingly, the president should be elected byFagun 29.
Members of the House of Representatives, National Assembly and Provincial Assembly are voters in the presidential election. According to that, 59 members of the National Assembly, 275 members of the House of Representatives and 550 members of the Provincial Assembly will be eligible to vote.
