A woman died in the earthquake that occurred in Bajura on Tuesday afternoon. According to the police, a woman was killed by a stone that fell from above along with the earthquake that occurred while cutting grass in the local forest of Jureli in Gaumul Rural Municipality-2 of the district.
A 5.9 magnitude earthquake has occurred at 2:43pm this afternoon. The epicentre of the temblor was in Bajura district of Sudurpaschim Province.The powerful tremor was also felt in Kailali and Dhangadhi districts, sending people out of their homes in panic.
Information Officer at Seismological Centre, Surkhet, Tirtha Raj Dahal, said the earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale occurred with its epicentre at Mela of Bajura district.
The earthquake has destroyed 6 houses in Badimalika Municipality and Himali Rural Municipality so far.
