Ravi Lamichhane, chairman of the National Independent Party, is again trying to return to the duties of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister. After the Supreme Court’s order, he took Nepali citizenship only yesterday. After returning to the responsibility of the party chairman, the National Independent Party has decided that Lamichhane should be returned to the previous responsibility of the government.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and UML President KP Sharma Oli had a conversation on Sunday about whether or not Lamichhane should be returned to his previous responsibility of the government immediately. But it is understood that no decision has been made.
After the Supreme Court’s verdict about old citizenship on Friday, Lamichhane took a new citizenship from the Kathmandu district administration on Sunday. Lamichhane, who reached Baluwatar yesterday after returning to the responsibility of the party chairman with a new citizenship, has proposed to the Prime Minister to reinstate him. However, even though the citizenship issue has been resolved, the police investigation is still ongoing on Lamichhane for taking a passport based on the old citizenship.
