Pokhara, 3 February: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has stated that the party can win a majority in the upcoming general elections if the leaders stand united.
Addressing an orientation program organized in Pokhara for the provincial presidents and heads of the provincial training departments on organization and contemporary issues, President Deuba said that if party leaders stand united, the party will achieve a majority in the upcoming general elections.
“If the party leaders maintain unity, Nepali Congress alone can win a majority in the upcoming general elections,” Deuba said. He asserted that it is possible to achieve majority in the upcoming general elections when the leaders stand united, although it is difficult to do so under the existing Constitution.
Stating that the current constitution has ensured representation for one and all irrespective of creeds and castes and the geographical regions they come from, he expressed concern that the lack of unity within the party has posed challenges.
“Our Constitution has guaranteed inclusive proportional representation system,” he said, “We fought hard to establish this system. However, the coming days are challenging. A party unity is a must to strengthen the federal, representative and inclusive system. If we are united, nothing is impossible.”
