Mahashivratri festival is being celebrated with great pomp across country

Mahashivratri festival is being celebrated with great pomp today. This festival is celebrated every year on the day ‘Fagun Krishna Chaturdashi’ falls at midnight. Mahashivratri is being celebrated all over the country by worshiping Lord Shiva. There is a crowd of saints and devotees in Pashupati area. Since last night, the Pashupati complex and the Bagmati shore have been thronged with pilgrims and devotees.

According to  Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) , the four doors of Pashupati were opened from 3 am. Saints and pilgrims from India also come to Pashupati on Shivaratri. Pashupati area has been decorated targeting Shivratri. It is estimated that 2 million pilgrims will visit the Pashupatinath main temple on Shivratri and 3 million devotees will visit the Pashupati area.

1.4 million devotees entered the original temple and had prayed last year. Last year, the number of devotees reaching Pashupati area was 2 million. Narayan Prasad Subedi, Treasurer of Pashupati Area Development Trust, said that since there is no fear of corona epidemic and dengue this year, more devotees are expected to come. According to him, more than 50 special puja programs have not been held today due to the crowd of devotees in the Pashupati area.

Revathiraman Adhikari, spokesperson of the fund, said that nearly 4,000 volunteers will be deployed to manage the devotees who reach the Pashupati area on Shivratri. In Pashupati, drugs such as ganja, bhang, dhaturo are prohibited. In Pashupatinath, 3,500 police have been mobilized in the area. Along with Shupatinath, other Shiva temples across the country have been thronged by pilgrims since this morning.
