In commemoration of the day when the Nepali people were freed from the autocratic Jahanian Rana regime and democracy was established, various programs are being held across the country today to celebrate Democracy Day.
With the struggle and sacrifices of the Nepalese people, the Rana regime ended on Fagaun 7, 2007 and the new era of democracy began. During the establishment of democracy in the country, the promising young people of that time Shukraraj Shastri, Gangalal Shrestha, Dasharath Chand, Dharmabhakta Mathema and others sacrificed. This day is being remembered as the event of liberation from the brutality of autocracy.
Remembering the importance of Democracy Day, the President, the Prime Minister and the leaders of the main opposition parties have sent greetings to the Nepali people. Also, on the occasion of the historic day, they have paid tribute to Amar Shaheed, who sacrificed his precious life in the democratic movement of Nepal.
Democracy Day is being celebrated grandly in Tundikhel of the capital in coordination with the main ceremony of Democracy Day. The President, Vice President, Prime Minister and other dignitaries will participate in the ceremony.
