24th Nat’l conference of Limbu Community taking place in Chitwan

The 24th national conference of Kirat Yakthung Chumlung began at Bharatpur from Sunday. Inaugurating the conference, former Chief of Province 1, Prof Dr Govinda Bahadur Tumbahang, said it was the first priority to protect religion and culture.

He said,’Only the federal republic constitution protects our rights. Rights of Limbu people will be addressed if federalism, republicanism and constitution implemented.’

Similarly, Central Advisor of Chulung, Chandra Maya Limbu, Province Assembly member Uttam Joshi, and former central committee member of Chumlung, Narendra Kandawa among others expressed their views.

Two hundred righty-eight representatives of 13 districts are participating in the conference. The two-day conference would determine one-year policy and programme. Similarly, discussion would be held on future course of action and its demands in the conference, said District Chairperson of Chumlung, Janak Limbu. As per the Census-2078, the population of Limbu is 387,000 in the country.
