Solukhumbhu, May 27: Famed Nepali Sherpa guide Kami Rita Sherpa scaled 8,848.86-metre Mount Everest for the 31st time at 4 AM on Tuesday, thus breaking her own previous record.

Last year, Sherpa stood atop Mount Everest for the 29th and 30th time, becoming the world record holder for the most summits of the world’s highest peak.
Born in the Solukhumbu region, the heartland of the Sherpa community that has long powered Himalayan expeditions, Kami Rita first climbed Everest in 1994 while working as a support staff member. Over the decades, he has become one of the world’s most accomplished high-altitude climbers.
Nepal Tourism Department stated that 55-year-old Kami Rita Sherpa, who holds the record for the most number of times to climb Mount Everest, has successfully climbed it for the 31st time.
