Gothgaon (Shiva Bhattarai Bhojpure): The ‘Gothgaon Biswobidyalaya Tol Bikash Sanstha’located in Ward No. 7 of Sundar Haraincha Municipality in Morang, has been carrying out various commendable social initiatives. Among these, the committee has been conducting a special program where its members visit the homes of physically challenged, chronically ill, and elderly residents to honor them, wish them good health, and receive their blessings.
On Saturday, 5th July (21,Ashadh), the committee’s officials personally visited the homes of senior citizens, engaging in heartfelt interactions and inquiring about their health conditions. On the same occasion, the committee honored prominent local figures Mr. Jeeva Nath Bhattarai and his wife Mrs. Sabitra Devi Bhattarai. Both are permanent residents of Gothgaon, Sundar Haraicha Municipality.

Mr. Bhattarai, guided by divine inspiration, has abstained from consuming grains since the age of seven. He survives solely on fruits—mainly apples and bananas—and cow’s milk. He has devoted his life to serving deities, ancestors, and cows, and selflessly assists devotees who visit his temple, aiming to free them from suffering.
Likewise, his wife, Mrs. Sabitra Devi Bhattarai, has also embraced a life of discipline by abstaining from salt and oil for the past 40 years. In recognition of their sacrifice and dedication, ‘Gothgaon Biswobidyalaya Tol Bikash Sanstha’, along with social activists, honored the couple. The committee presented them with a certificate of appreciation, acknowledging their valuable contributions and spiritual commitment.

The program was attended by the committee’s president Mr. Keshav Bhattarai, vice president, secretary, treasurer, advisors Post Kumar Shrestha, Durga Bhattarai, and other committee members. Emphasizing the importance of social harmony and compassion, President Bhattarai stated that serving the elderly and helpless members of society is not only the duty of the organization but also the responsibility of the entire community. He remarked, “Development is not just about infrastructure; it is about being sensitive to the needs of society’s vulnerable members. Bringing a smile to their faces is our true service.”
Committee members have expressed their appreciation for such initiatives, believing that these efforts play a crucial role in fostering social harmony, mutual respect, and a sense of reverence toward senior citizens within the community.
Social activist Mr. Netra Chaulagain also praised the campaign, stating that such initiatives help ensure a dignified life for the elderly, address their needs, and promote positive thinking in society. He further expressed his willingness to collaborate in the committee’s future social endeavors.
