Kathmandu: Vietnamese Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan is in Nepal on an official visit and will hold a series of high-level meetings today.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she is scheduled to meet with Nepal’s Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to discuss bilateral cooperation and issues of mutual concern.
Vice President Xuan will also participate in a special ceremony commemorating 50 years of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Vietnam. This is the first high-level visit from Vietnam to Nepal, made at the formal invitation of Vice President Yadav.
Upon her arrival on Saturday, Vice President Xuan met with Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba, who proposed launching direct flights between Vietnam and Nepal’s international airports in Pokhara and Bhairahawa to strengthen tourism ties. The idea is expected to be raised again during today’s official talks.
On Monday, Vice President Xuan will meet with President Ram Chandra Paudel and tour heritage landmarks including Patan Durbar Square and Swayambhunath Stupa, before returning to Vietnam.
