Gen-Z coalitions to present unified charter of demands to PM Karki today

Kathmandu: The Gen-Z groups at the forefront of the recent nationwide protests are set to present a unified charter of demands to Prime Minister Sushila Karki today.

Amit Khanal, a prominent leader of the Gen-Z Movement of Alliance, said the delegation will formally hand over the document to the Prime Minister after 11 AM on Thursday.

According to Khanal, three major Gen-Z collectives—Gen-Z Movement of Alliance, The Council of Gen-Z, and Gen-Z Font—have jointly finalized the charter. Representatives of injured demonstrators and families of those killed during the protests also took part in the discussions.

He said the groups spent the past week drafting the charter and eventually reached a consensus after several rounds of dialogue.

“We worked extensively and prepared this charter together. Nearly 90 percent of Gen-Z voices are reflected in it,” Khanal told Khabarhub, adding that a few invited members could not attend.

Khanal emphasized that after submitting the charter, the groups expect the Prime Minister to take concrete steps to address their demands and to institutionalize the movement. He also noted that no further decisions or activities will move ahead until the movement receives formal institutional recognition.
