EC refutes claims of unauthorised access to voters’ roll

Kathmandu, Nov. 19: The Election Commission (EC) has firmly denied allegations of unauthorised access to voter roll data, stating that all records remain fully protected and cannot be misused.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Commission assured the public that its website and information systems are secure, adding that there are no risks concerning the safety of confidential information.

Reaffirming its legal responsibility to protect sensitive personal data, the EC said that no individual or group has gained unauthorised access to voter-related details. The Commission further emphasised its continued commitment to ensuring the complete security of citizens’ private information.

Clarifying concerns over PDF documents circulating on social media, the EC explained that those files had been officially shared with district election offices and political parties for electoral purposes and were not leaked from its system.
