Gorkha – Four members of the same family have fallen ill after eating a curry made from mushrooms that grew on a pile of straw.According to Superintendent of Police Bharat Bahadur Bikram of the District Police Office, the family of 30-year-old Hira Pahari—originally from Bagmati Municipality–13 of Makwanpur district and currently living in a rented house at Pyughar, Gorkha Municipality–14—became ill after consuming poisonous mushrooms.
On Monday evening, the family picked mushrooms growing on a nearby heap of straw and cooked them as a vegetable. After eating the mushrooms, the mother Hira Pahari, her 12-year-old son Kisan, six-year-old son Himal, and five-year-old daughter Sujita fell ill.
Soon after consumption, they experienced symptoms such as stomach pain, nausea, and extreme fatigue. They were immediately taken for treatment to Abukhaireni Rural Municipality Hospital in Tanahun district, where they are currently receiving medical care, the police said. All the patients are conscious and able to speak. Further investigation into the incident is underway, according to the police.
