UML picks six nominees for National Assembly polls

Kathmandu: The CPN-UML has finalized six candidates for the upcoming National Assembly election slated for January 25.

The party is contesting the election as part of an alliance with other political forces and, under the broader seat-sharing arrangement with the Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Centre) and JSP-Nepal, has secured seven seats. However, UML is yet to decide its candidate for one seat from Madhesh Province.

Party sources said UML has nominated Roshani Meche from Koshi Province, Dr Prem Kumar Dangal from Bagmati, Samjhana Devkota from Gandaki, Ram Kumari Jhankri from Lumbini, Meena Rakhal from Karnali, and Leela Kumari Bhandari from Sudurpaschim.

The nominees were finalized by party chair KP Sharma Oli after deliberations at the Secretariat meeting. The Election Commission has set today as the deadline for submitting nominations for the National Assembly election.
