“Let us pledge to walk the path shown by martyrs and fulfill their dreams: Gagan Thapa

Kathmandu: Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has stated that there is a need to pledge to fulfill the dreams of the martyrs and to walk on the path they showed. On the occasion of Martyrs’ Day, paying high tribute to their indomitable courage, determination, and ideals, he said that it is because the martyrs dedicated their lives to the nation and the people that citizens today are able to breathe in an era of freedom.

President Thapa paid homage to all the brave martyrs who sacrificed their invaluable lives in various movements and struggles throughout different periods of history—from the pre–2007 BS People’s Revolution to the ‘Gen Z’ uprising of 2082 BS—for the rights and freedoms of the Nepali people.

Stating that Nepal can be transformed into a peaceful and prosperous nation only through a strong and resilient democracy, he said it is everyone’s responsibility to firmly move forward on the path of progress by embracing the sacrifice, dedication, and ideals shown by the martyrs.

President Thapa also emphasized the need for effective implementation and timely revision of the people’s rights enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, promulgated by the Constituent Assembly under the leadership of the Nepali Congress. He expressed confidence that this day would inspire everyone to achieve the goal of “Prosperous Nepal, Respected Nepalis” through the collective efforts of all Nepalis at home and abroad.
