Kathmandu – South Africa defeated Afghanistan in the ICC T20 World Cup in the second Super Over. Chasing a target of 24 runs set by South Africa in the second Super Over, Afghanistan managed only 19 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. In the first Super Over, South Africa scored 17 runs for the loss of 1 wicket while chasing Afghanistan’s 18-run target, forcing the match into a second Super Over.
Earlier, Afghanistan were chasing a target of 188 runs set by South Africa. They were all out for 187 runs in 19.4 overs, which pushed the game into a Super Over. Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 84 runs for Afghanistan, while South Africa’s Lungi Ngidi took 3 wickets.
Before that, South Africa, who were put in to bat after losing the toss at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India, scored 187 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Ryan Rickelton scored 61 and Quinton de Kock added 59 runs for South Africa. Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai took 3 wickets.
With their second consecutive win, South Africa have collected 4 points from 2 matches in Group ‘D’. This was Afghanistan’s second straight defeat.
