Kathmandu – The Election Commission has issued a warning that strict action will be taken against teachers, professors, and staff affiliated with educational institutions if they are found involved in election campaigning or related activities.
According to Election Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, complaints have been received indicating that some teachers, professors, and staff have participated in the promotion of political parties or candidates. He cautioned that those involved will face strict legal action in accordance with the law.
The Commission further stated that, under the election code of conduct and existing legal provisions, disciplinary measures may extend to removal from their positions. Therefore, teachers and academic staff have been urged to refrain from engaging in such activities.
The Commission has also called on all concerned stakeholders to fully comply with and enforce the election code of conduct.
Spokesperson Bhattarai added that District Code of Conduct Monitoring Committees, Election Officers, Code of Conduct Monitoring Officers, and Election Offices have been instructed once again to ensure strict monitoring and enforcement of the code of conduct.
