Election Update: Results from 161 Constituencies Announced; RSP Wins 124 Seats

Kathmandu — In the vote counting of the House of Representatives election held on March 5, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has secured victory in 124 constituencies so far.

According to the details released by the Election Commission at the time of preparing this report, an RSP candidate is also leading in one additional constituency. Among the results announced from 161 constituencies so far, candidates of the Nepali Congress have been elected in 17 constituencies and are leading in one constituency.

Similarly, the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) has won eight seats and is leading in one constituency. Seven candidates of the Communist Party of Nepal have also been elected. In addition, the Labour Culture Party has won three constituencies, while the Rastriya Prajatantra Party and one independent candidate have secured victory in one constituency each.

Under the Proportional Representation (PR) electoral system, the RSP is leading with 3,822,632 votes. The Nepali Congress follows with 1,289,448 votes, while the CPN (UML) has received 1,089,449 votes. Likewise, the Communist Party of Nepal has secured 562,914 votes.
