Kathmandu — The Election Commission is set to distribute certificates to candidates elected under the proportional representation (PR) system on Chaitra 5.
According to Election Officer Krishna Bahadur Raut, the certificates will be distributed at 11:30 AM at the Commission premises. The Commission has already published the list of candidates selected and submitted by political parties and officially declared them elected.
The Commission has requested elected members of the House of Representatives under the PR system to submit their original citizenship certificate or national identity card along with two passport-size photographs.
In the House of Representatives elections held on Falgun 21, six political parties secured national party status. Under the PR system, the Rastriya Swatantra Party secured 57 seats, Nepali Congress 20, CPN-UML 16, CPN (Unified Socialist) 9, Janamat Party 4, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party 4 seats.
In the 275-member House of Representatives, 165 members are elected through the first-past-the-post system and 110 through proportional representation. The election process will be completed after certificate distribution.
